Yesterday i rented a motobike and went to Doi Inthanon national park, and saw some awesome waterfalls. the pictures really speak for themselves. Sorry the pics aren;t working...i'll try another day... Anyway the fun part came when i tried to find somehwere to sleep. The guide book said i could sleep in the park, there were places to hire tents and bungalows etc. I got to the place and these Thai guys were sitting around drinking(alchole) and i asked them about sleeping and they hardly spoke english but one said something about a "home stay, 5km away" and i was like no thats dodgy, i wasn't quite sure what was going on. But our communitcation was limmited. So i went to the next building to eat, this is like a ranger station in the middle of nowhere, and i pointed at the sign menu which had Thai and english and the lady keep say "Nik Noi" which means dont have. She made me an omlet, which i ate cos i was hungry, (i dont likes eggs) And then the guy came over and must have explained to her where i was sleeping, and she didn't seem to like that idea. When he left she came to me and started talking Thai, and i talked back in English. It was seriously like that scene out of Love Actually, for those who know. Anyways i think we finally worked out that i was staying at her house. But i didn't know if she was ok with that, so when the guy came back, he spoke a little english. I tried to get him to ask her if it was ok with her. So i guess it was, cos i stayed in her house, which was just a bedroom in one of the buildings. She left the room and managed to communicate that the men had been drinking and if they knocked on the door not to let them in, and she had a key. SO that was fine. Then when she came back she turned to the TV on, and we watched a Thai soapy. I thought i would understand more, but i guess the acting must have been bad. It was fun, all i understood was that there were two girls who liked the same boy, and i think one of the girl also like a different boy as well. But i got confused cos they all looked the same. Oh and there was an evil sleazy guy, its funny how he was represented the same as in western T.V, greasy hair, a shinny shirt, leaning back in his chair. Anyway so then the lady became concerned that i wanted to go to sleep, i didn;t want to her to not watch t.v cos i was sthere and sleeping, so i keep saying "My Pen Rye Ka" which means dont worry/no problem, as in response to Thank you...no problem. It was the only Thai i knew. I guess she got it, along with my acting. she was very nice and very concerned for my well being, so i guess she didn't mind me staying. She was also very worried about everything, which was a bit troubling. I the morning she made me coffee, and then went to work. I wasn't sure whether giving her money for her kindness would have been an insult or not, but i gave her 100B which is about $7, the cost of a cheep room here. She seemed very thankful, i guess it was ok. Well it was a very intense experience, and then i ran out of petrol and the next town on the map was in the wrong dirrection, but much closer, so i went there, and the guage said empty for 18Km, but luckly it was down hill. I was very ungry by then, becuase the lady didn't seem to have anything but eggs i thought i'd just wait. I ordered Pad Thai, which i gerally easy and good, and the lady at the stand understood. It was the only bad Pad Thai i have ever eaten...they put sugar in everyhinf here, but she must have got her proportions wrong, cos it was sweet pad Thai. I love the food here though!!! Agh i dont wont to leave just cos of the food, and my Thai is getting rather good. I know about 6 phrases, proably less than the Chinese Heidi taught me, but i'm still proud. Tonight i went to the 'Night Bizar' Which Caitlin said i shouldnt bother with, and she was right, but i thought i may as well. It just a tourist market, which sells all the same things as every other market. Still it was funny to watch the tourist get hassled. I learnt how to say "My Ouw Ka" which is 'dont wont.' (Heidi you need to teach me this, its the most important thing.) Anyways i was walking along and someone was like "Hellooo" which is what they always say, and i said "Me Ouw Ka" and keep walking, and this boy called after me: "I love you, you speak Thai" and i called back: "Nik Noi" which means a little bit. It was so fun!!! Oh and when i order food now, i say Nik Noi Ped, which mean means a little bit spicy, rather than My Ped, no spicy!! Ummm what else, the day before yesterday i stayed at Caitlins house, also with her friends from Melbourne who are travelling Julia and Erin, THANKS GUYS!! AND THANKS ROBYN!! Its wierd, but good, to be on the otherside of the world (almost) and hang out with people from Melbourne. We went to the walking market, which happens every Sunday and i bought a top, its really kool!! it orange and light wieght. Agh so hot here!! Ok time for bed... sa wat di ka
